Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 16, 2026

This policy explains how Luxury Yacht Sardinia handles personal data belonging to visitors of luxuryyachtchartersardinia.com and to anyone who contacts us about a yacht or boat charter in Sardinia. It applies whether you browse the site, send an enquiry, write to us by email, call us, or message us on WhatsApp, and it covers what happens to your data if an enquiry turns into a confirmed charter.

It does not cover the WhatsApp application itself, which is operated by Meta under its own privacy terms once a conversation starts there.

1. Who is responsible for your data

The controller is Luxury Yacht Sardinia, the brand under which luxuryyachtchartersardinia.com is operated. For any question about this policy, or to exercise the rights described below, write to [email protected]. This is also the address to use for all booking-related correspondence.

2. Data we collect and where it comes from

When you submit the enquiry form, we collect the information you enter: name, email, phone number if you provide one, the yacht you are interested in if you select one, your preferred charter dates, number of guests and any message you write. The form also records the page you were on and the site that referred you, so we understand which enquiries come from which pages.

If you contact us directly by email, phone or WhatsApp, we collect whatever information you choose to share in that exchange. When you tap a WhatsApp button on the site, we record the click in our booking system, together with the page URL, referrer, site language and the prefilled message, before WhatsApp opens; the conversation that follows takes place on WhatsApp and is governed by Meta's own privacy policy, not by us.

Our server keeps standard technical logs of visits (IP address, time, page requested, browser) for a short period for security purposes. Separately, our own visit-measurement script, served from our domain, records pages viewed, time on page, referring site, campaign parameters in the link, device type, browser, operating system, screen size, browser language and the country derived from your IP address; the IP address itself is not stored. If you later send an enquiry or tap a WhatsApp or phone link, that action is linked to the same visit so we know which channel brought it. No cookies are set by the site for this purpose; a local-storage entry holds a random visitor and session identifier and expires 30 days after your last visit, and you can clear it from your browser at any time. A separate local-storage entry only remembers that you closed the cookie notice, and a session-storage entry temporarily remembers which yacht you clicked on, so the enquiry form can be prefilled; it is deleted when you close the tab or send the form. None of these entries contains your name, email or phone number.

3. Why we process your data

We use enquiry and contact data to answer your questions, prepare a written quote and, if you decide to go ahead, confirm and manage your charter; this is necessary to take steps at your request before a contract and to perform the contract once a booking is confirmed. We use server logs and visit-measurement data on the basis of our legitimate interest in keeping the site secure and understanding how it is used, without profiling individual visitors or showing them targeted advertising. Where a charter is confirmed, we may need to collect guest names to prepare the crew list that Sardinian port authorities require before a vessel departs; this processing is based on our legal obligation to provide that information. Booking and accounting records are kept and processed as required by Italian tax and accounting law.

4. Who receives your data

Your data is accessible to our own team, who use an internal messaging tool to reply to enquiries quickly, and to our booking system where enquiries and WhatsApp click records are stored. When a charter is confirmed, the captain or skipper who will actually run that charter receives the details needed to prepare the day on board, including, where required, the guest names used for the crew list. Our website is served by a hosting provider that stores the files and logs needed to run the site. The phone field in the enquiry form loads the intl-tel-input library from the jsDelivr content delivery network, and the site's typefaces are loaded from Google Fonts; both receive the technical request needed to deliver that resource, including your IP address, but neither sets cookies on our behalf. If you choose to message us through WhatsApp, that conversation is handled by WhatsApp, operated by Meta. We do not sell personal data to anyone, and we do not use it to make automated decisions about you.

5. Transfers outside the EU

Most of the services above operate within the European Economic Area. Where a third-party resource such as Google Fonts or the jsDelivr CDN is delivered from infrastructure located outside the EEA, the request may involve a transfer of your IP address to that country. Such transfers rely on the safeguards recognised under Chapter V of the GDPR, including standard contractual clauses adopted by the provider. We do not otherwise transfer personal data outside the EEA.

6. How long we keep data

Enquiries that do not result in a booking are deleted after 36 months. Records relating to confirmed bookings, including the information needed for accounting and tax purposes, are kept for as long as Italian tax and accounting law requires. Server logs are kept for a short period for security purposes and then deleted. Browser-stored identifiers expire automatically: the visit-measurement identifier after 30 days of inactivity, and the session-storage entry for the selected yacht as soon as the tab is closed or the form is submitted.

7. How we protect your data

We apply technical and organisational measures appropriate to the nature of the data we hold, limiting access to the team members and service providers mentioned in this policy and keeping booking and enquiry records within systems reserved for that purpose. No method of transmission or storage is entirely risk-free, but we review and adjust our measures as the way the site and our booking process work changes.

8. Your rights

Under the GDPR and the Italian Privacy Code (Legislative Decree 196/2003), you have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected if inaccurate, to have it deleted where retention is no longer justified, to restrict or object to certain processing, and to receive the data you provided to us in a portable format. Where processing relies on your consent, you may withdraw it at any time without affecting processing already carried out.

To exercise any of these rights, write to [email protected]. We may ask you to confirm your identity before acting on the request, and we will respond within one month. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali, the Italian data protection authority, at www.garanteprivacy.it.

9. Children

Our charters are a service for adults organising travel in Sardinia, and the website is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from minors through the enquiry form or any other channel on the site.

10. Marketing

We do not send marketing emails unless you specifically ask us to. Any communication you receive after an enquiry relates to answering your request or managing your charter, including, when relevant, planning the vessel, water toys and timings for the day you have booked.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy if the way we collect or use data changes, for example if we add a new tool to the site or adjust our booking process. The version published on luxuryyachtchartersardinia.com at any given time is the one that applies, and we encourage you to check it before sending us personal data.
